Crew Register

We recognise that there are members with boats in the Dinghy Park or on the moorings where hopes of participating in racing (or other outings) are frustrated due to lack of crew. Additionally we are approached fairly regularly by folk - usually non-members - where the chance to go afloat could easily result in a win-win-win for them, the boat owner, and the club.

We have developed a fairly simple register which allows both parties to submit basic details which it then shares appropriately. We are very conscious of the security and safety considerations involved in operating such a system. We believe the correct safeguards are in place, including the ability to alert us to any perceived misuse of the system.

We invite members to give it at try - and for non-members stumbling across this information we invite you, too, to register. We can't guarantee success, but having a mechanism is a vital first step. The link is below:

SCIO Status

Following support at the November 2024 AGM to pursue SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) status, our registration was confirmed by the regulator OSCR on 7th January 2025. An EGM on 5th February then approved all the actions subsequently taken, including the appointment of Initial Trustees. We're exiting a transitional phase and are operating now as a fully-fledged SCIO. This phase concluded with the winding up of the club as formerly constituted.

Documents addressing the transition can be found in the "About/Governance" section of this website.

The Repaired Rock Armour Wall

The storms of 2025 triggered erosion of the seaward protective wall of rocks round the perimeter of the main Dinghy Park. Major repairs (and lots of extra rock) were added between Christmas and New Year, and the by-product has been an increase in size of the little sheltered HW beach at the top of the slipway.

BLAZE Championship 6/7 Sept 2025

27 Entries

With the last two races completed prior to the weather nosediving, there was no change to the overnight leaderboard, all done by noon.

  • Stacey Bray from Porthpean in Cornwall 1st overall with 9 points after discarding a 4th
  • Christian Smart from Pembrokshire next on 10 points after discarding a 3rd
  • HSC's Ali Gray two points behind on 12 after discarding a 5th

It was a successful weekend for all concerned and "Well Done" to HSC Commodore Euan Morrison and his team for completing the race schedule despite the threatening weather.
