Helensburgh Sailing Club is situated 25 miles northwest of Glasgow and offers sailors the opportunity to sail in a beautiful part of Scotland in the safe, yet exciting inshore waters of the upper Firth of Clyde. We offer dinghy and keelboat racing and cruising and are an RYA accredited training centre.
Last weeks’ Advertiser reported the success of Helensburgh Sailing Club member Calum Rosie in winning the Topper dinghy UK National Championships in Pwllheli. Now, Calum has now followed this up with a further stunning achievement by winning the Topper World Championships. It was a nail-biting finish which all came down to the final race in the event. Calum was ecstatic with his victory which comes after months of intensive training with the UK Junior Sailing Squad and a string of other regatta successes.
However, there was even more success to come. At the same time, Helensburgh Sailing Club youth sailor Jack Aitken was winning the UK Laser Class National Championships at Largs. Jack has had huge success this year at National and European level in the Laser Radial Youth series, but winning the Laser Full Rig National event against adult sailors was a massive achievement.
