All of our 2021 Training Courses are FULL and we have a large Waiting List which should probably be closed soon too. We are sorry for the disappointment this will cause but, despite acquiring additional  boats for our club boat fleet, and additional trained instructors, we are unable to offer spaces for the balance of this season.

Our team of RYA instructors can provide a wide range of RYA training courses for both sail and power.  These include Stages 1-4 of the Youth Sailing Scheme, Levels 1-3 of the National Dinghy Scheme, Advanced Modules of the National Dinghy Sailing Scheme, Powerboat Levels 1&2, Safety Boat Certificate and First Aid.  Courses are aimed at HSC members, however temporary membership is usually an option for short courses.

Susan Miskelly took over the role of Principal and Rear Commodore Training from Sarah Jeffrey at the end of the 2018 season. We extend a huge thank you to both of them. The club has been fortunate to have two such experienced and dedicated members in this important role.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, no junior training took place in the first half of 2020. We eventually managed to restart in August and a total of 26 Juniors attended on Monday or Tuesday evenings.  Due to the much-shortened season, and the various covid-safe measures that we had to take, we didn’t work towards the RYA Stages in 2020 but instead focused entirely on having fun!

Powerboat Level 2:

In February/March 12 adult and youth students took part in a very successful Powerboat Level 2 Course.  It was a wee bit chilly out on the water during the practical sessions but it was great fun and brings a couple of our Assistant Instructors a step closer to achieving their dinghy instructor qualification.

 First Aid Course:

An RYA first aid course, with 12 students, took place in February.  This ensured that several of our instructors were revalidated and other members were able to update their knowledge and skills.
