Monday Nights

This year we saw more, enthusiastic sailors coming through the programme. With a warm start in May the students began learning their new stages. Congratulations go to all the children that achieved their stages throughout the season and it is hoped as manyas possible will return next year to continue through the RYA Syllabus.

Thursday Race Training

We had a small group of children on our Thursday evening course. This encouraged them to gain basic knowledge of Club Racing. Some of our students completed their ‘Start Racing’ certificate and began working towards gaining their Seamanship Skills. Well done to those children for taking part in the club racing after our short training session each Thursday, and congratulations to those who achieved certificates.

Junior Trophies

The Junior Trophy races were held on Saturday 21st October which was very chilly for our young sailors but they all made it on to the water and competed in 3 short races. The forecast was very gusty and conditions were sometimes challenging with a few capsizes. Well done to Eilidh McQueen for winning the Hirta Trophy and to Findlay Penniston for winning the Junior Trophy. Recognition also goes to Liam Mackenzie for receiving the Allan Miller cup for enthusiasm and commitment. Andrew Perratt also was rewarded the Novice Cup for also being so enthusiastic and attending events outwith the club in his first year of sailing. These were presented at the Prizegiving.

Well done to ALL the Junior training group for achieving RYA stages this year.

A special thank you to all our HSC Instructors. Training couldn't happen without them all so Thank You and we hope you all enjoyed our Instructor night in the club with food and a movie as a reward for all your work this year. Keep up the good work for next year!
