Keelboat racing takes place just off Helensburgh on the East of the Clyde Estuary. A fantastic area that provides a variety of courses for all conditions. Wind strengths and directions. There are several permanent markers including some large navigation towers and the famous 'Sugar Ship' wreck, the Captayannis which ran aground 27 January 1974, plus several large orange laid marks which the club maintain.
Through the season from April to October there are 5 series, initially on Sunday afternoons then as the evenings grow longer into Wednesdays evenings and then back to the Sundays. These are suited to serious racing fanatics and competent amateurs and anyone wanting to join the crew of a Keelboat will almost always find a helmsman looking for some added ballast.
There's some great one design racing to be had in both Sonatas & Sonars
